As part of its drive to handle all 5,000 units of truck heads owned by Dangote Group, the management of Clarion Shipping West Africa Limited has said that a total of 1500 units of new trucks will arrive the terminal this week.
Officials of the off-dock vehicle terminal said that the trucks are to arrive at Lagos aboard two vessels, but the General Manager of the company; Frank Okocha said that the company is expecting 420 units of the vehicles in the early part of the week before receiving the remaining later.

Officials of the off-dock vehicle terminal said that the trucks are to arrive at Lagos aboard two vessels, but the General Manager of the company; Frank Okocha said that the company is expecting 420 units of the vehicles in the early part of the week before receiving the remaining later.
Okocha disclosed to Shipping Position Daily in Lagos that “the terminal has been experiencing upbeat of activities recently and we are expecting new vehicles and especially, Dangote Group consignment, and we are expecting the ships to berth before they can be transferred to our terminal’’.
‘’The vehicles we are expecting will be more than the normal 500 units that we have being handling since last year, and as we speak we are expecting 1,500 units of the truck heads, but there are some little things to put in place for now’’, the general manager told our correspondent last week.
He said that the terminal has handled more than 3,000 units of both old and used vehicles at once from the port, adding that all efforts to receive the trucks are in place.
He noted that the terminal will experience congestion in the final quarter of the year as importation of vehicles will increase and added that the truck heads that are being expected will be part of vehicles that will lead to the overcrowding of the terminal.
Okocha added that the terminal has successfully handled larger percentage of the vehicles adding that the remaining part of the 5000 units may enter the terminal before the end of the year.
According to him, 425 units of the truck heads are to come into the port before the others will sail in before all the units can be transferred to the off dock vehicular terminal at Alakija.
The General Manager also said that the company has also handled new and used vehicles on behalf of automobile dealers and individuals which have projected a positive image of the organization in service delivery in shipping business.
He said that the terminal has been docile for some weeks, but with units of vehicles expected to come in will make the terminal busy once more.
