A clearing agent, Olubodun Oladunjoye, was yesterday at the Yaba Magistrates' Court, Lagos, charged with the alleged theft of three vehicles he undertook to clear from a port in Lagos.
Oladunjoye, who resides at No. 13, Orilonise Street, Felele, Ibadan, Oyo State is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
The prosecutor, Insp. Chris Takim, told the court that Oladunjoye had on Feb. 27 undertook to clear three vehicles valued at N4.3 million, on behalf of OAK Logistic and Supplies Nig. Ltd.

The prosecutor, Insp. Chris Takim, told the court that Oladunjoye had on Feb. 27 undertook to clear three vehicles valued at N4.3 million, on behalf of OAK Logistic and Supplies Nig. Ltd.
According to him, the accused allegedly cleared the vehicles and absconded with them, after he had forged three bill of laden, claiming ownership of the vehicles.
“Oladunjoye on Feb. 27 was contracted to clear a Lexus Jeep Rx 300, a Pathfinder Jeep and a Toyota Camry saloon car, all valued at N4.3 million.
“He collected all documents to enable him clear the unregistered vehicles; he cleared them and forged bills of laden in his name and then absconded with the vehicles.
“He was apprehended at Ibadan, and could not give an explanation as to the where about of the vehicles he had cleared,'' said the prosecutor.
Takim said the offences, which were committed at the Arena Nigerian Army Shopping Complex, Oshodi, Agege Motor Rd, Lagos, contravened sections 285 and 363 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Magistrate, Mrs S.K. Matepo, granted him bail in the sum of N500, 000 and one surety in like sum.
Matepo adjourned the case to July 8 for mention.
The accused may be sentenced to three years imprisonment on conviction.
