The Zonal Coordinator of the council, Hajiya Karimatu othman, gave the assurance in Sokoto at the election of the shippers' association in the zone .
According to her, " the council will fast track a responsive mechanism that will encourage partnership with shippers association towards realising its vision.
" The axis has been a formidable centre for trans-border trade which the council intends to strengthen by promoting its activities.''
Othman also explained that the zonal and area offices were primarily established to open up and reach out to the grass roots
" The nation-wide spread of the offices is aimed at reaching out to serve those at the grass roots level," she said.
Othman, however, noted that the council was principally meant to provide services to shippers who were the target stakeholders.
She said: "This can only be achieved when we share the common problems, complaints and demands so as to satisfy your needs.
" Else, we cannot adequately serve your needs better."
The coordinator further stressed the need for a vibrant association for shippers in the northwest axis.
Meanwhile, the new executive members elected included Alhaji Mu'azu Yakubu as President, with Muhammad Gazali, Secretary-General.
