The Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarders in Nigeria (CRFFN) said that it is yet to commence the Diploma programme for which it recently got approval from the world body, International Federation of Freight Forwarders Association (FIATA).
The CRFFN was reacting to insinuations by some freight forwarders that its diploma programme is too expensive.

The Council, in a  statement issued by its head of public relation;s Mrs Chinyere Ufomta said “the good intention of the council to provide international education and inject professionalism in order to boast the rating standard of freight forwarding to the Nigerian populace” is being misunderstood, saying that it is wrong to reduce the council to an extortionist body.
It however explained that ‘for the purpose of clarity, the N250,000.00 which was erroneously refered to should be for the one week intensive executive professional Diploma in freight forwarding programme delivered by Oceanserve and Logistics Limited accredited by CRFFN.”
According to the CRFFN, FIATA granted approval to Nigeria to start running the professional Diploma programme having met the international minimum standards on 10th October, 2012.
“The FIATA Diploma has not even taken – off before this misinformation. This is to be a one year programme, which tuition fees will be N200, 000.00, to be paid in three installments of N100, 000.00 for the first term and N50, 000 each for the second and the third terms respectively”, the statement explained.
“The programme is to be run nationwide by the 10 CRFFN-accredited training Iinstitution, one each in the six geo – political zones, namely: Benue State University, Makurdi (North Central), Maritime Academy Of Nigeria , Oron (South – South), Maritime Institute Of Transport Technology, Zaria (North West), Modibbo Adama  University, Yola (North – East), Federal University Of Technology, Owerri (South –  East) And Redeemer’s University, Redemption City (South – West) and four other institutions in lagos due to the large concentration of the practitioners there”
“The issue of training, competence, skill and appropriate ethics of practice is paramount and central to the overriding interest of the mandate of CRFFN, hence the process to redefine standard became necessary in order to weed out touts and ignoramus in the industry thereby correcting the wrong perception about the profession.”
“In order to bring the practice in tandem with internationally acceptable standards of best practices, CRFFN held three “Training  of the Trainers” programme this year in Lagos, handled by Mr. Thomas Sim, the world-acclaimed freight forwarding consultant and master Trainer. 26 participants who would form the nucleus of the trainers drawn from the accredited training institutions and practitioners participated in the three training of the trainers’ programme.”
“Modules for the Diploma in freight forwarding and supply chain management and other necessary frameworks carried out by CRFFN and submitted to FIATA were gloriously defended by the register/CEO of the Council, Sir Mike Jukwe at the world congress held recently in Los Angeles, United States of America.”
“FIATA’s validation and accreditation of the programme is a landmark achievement and a major breakthrough in the history of freight forwarding in Nigeria, which any right thinking individual should reckon with.”
The statement explained further that “the core business of CRFFN, which include education, standardization and benchmarking has officially commenced”, confirming that “all machineries have been put in place for smooth take – off of the FIATA’s validated and accredited Diploma course come January, 2013.”

KNOW YOUR BODY PARTS: The Liver The liver is a vital organ located in the right upper abdomen, playing a crucial role in metabolism, detoxification, and digestion. It’s the largest solid organ in the body and is responsible for filtering blood, maintaining blood sugar levels, regulating clotting, and synthesizing essential proteins. The liver also stores energy, removes toxins, and produces bile, which aids in digestion Liver functions: · Metabolism and Detoxification: The liver processes nutrients from the blood, breaks down and balances them, and creates essential substances for the body. It detoxifies harmful substances like drugs and alcohol, converting them into less toxic forms for excretion. The liver plays a role in the metabolism of proteins, carbohydrates, and fats. It stores glycogen (a form of glucose) and vitamins, releasing them when the body needs them. · Digestion: The liver produces bile, which is stored in the gallbladder and released into the small intestine to help digest fats. Bile also helps in the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins. · Blood Regulation: The liver regulates blood sugar levels by storing and releasing glucose. It synthesizes clotting factors, which are essential for blood clotting. It removes old red blood cells and processes bilirubin, a byproduct of red blood cell breakdown. · Other Functions: The liver plays a role in immunity, helping to fight off infections. It produces proteins that are involved in the immune response. The liver also stores iron and other essential minerals.
