An Assistant Controller of the Nigeria Customs Service; Mr. Tachio Timothy has been honoured with a prestigious distinguished corporate achiever award by Galaxy news magazine.
According to the organizers of the award, the awardee who is also the Officer -in-Charge of Apapa Port gate, was honoured in recognition of his “hard work, exemplary leadership qualities and numerous achievement in the Nigeria Customs Service and particularly operations at the Lagos Ports Complex (LPC) in the last couple of years.”

According to the organizers of the award, the awardee who is also the Officer -in-Charge of Apapa Port gate, was honoured in recognition of his “hard work, exemplary leadership qualities and numerous achievement in the Nigeria Customs Service and particularly operations at the Lagos Ports Complex (LPC) in the last couple of years.”
While presenting the award to the recipient in his office last week in Lagos, the media outfit through its General Manager; Mr. Samuel Emofo said that survey showed that customs officers at the gate are the most coordinated among officers of other agencies of government, noting that the leader of that unit needs to be encouraged, hence the award.
He urged other operatives of government agencies to emulate what the senior customs officer has done in the last couple of years as head of the premier port gate.
The general manager said Galaxy Magazine awards are given to credible individuals and corporate bodies who have brought to bear the managerial skills in their course of their duty.
The recipient, in his remark said that the award is for the Nigeria Customs Service, saying that the service has done a lot in the area of human capacity development.
He also expressed gratitude for the level of transformation and peaceful operation at the premier port.
Timothy said that he has been in charge of the premier port gate for close to five years, noting that, "I have been able to charge the situation I met on ground.”
He added that the success recorded so far by customs at the gate can be attributed to team spirit; most especially officers under his watch.
The customs top brass added that, "we have not done enough but we are still trying to make sure we maximise revenue collection for government because this is a premier port and if anything happens here it will affect revenue drive"
"We know that Abuja eyes are on us, so we must be up and doing, if we fail in our duty, they will know, if we are doing well they will know as well"
"One in a while they send message to us, to keep up the good work we are doing"
