The Customs Officer’s Wives Association (COWA) has inaugurated the Port Harcourt Area 1 Chapter.
Speaking last week in Port Harcourt, the National President of COWA, and wife of the Comptroller General of Nigeria Customs Hajiya Sa’Adiya A. Inde Dikko expresseed gratitude for the official inauguration of COWA Area I Chapter.
Hajiya Sa’Adiya A. Inde Dikko who was represented said that COWA was established to bring empowerment and support to custom officers wives, and women.

Speaking last week in Port Harcourt, the National President of COWA, and wife of the Comptroller General of Nigeria Customs Hajiya Sa’Adiya A. Inde Dikko expresseed gratitude for the official inauguration of COWA Area I Chapter.
Hajiya Sa’Adiya A. Inde Dikko who was represented said that COWA was established to bring empowerment and support to custom officers wives, and women.
She said that the place of women cannot be over emphasized and called on all to come together and support the empowerment programme to address all forms of poverty and ignorance among women, even as she commended COWA Port Harcourt Chapter for the effort and called on all to join hands in the war against poverty especially among women.
Speaking earlier, the Chairman of the occasion, Chief Dr. Cletus Ibeto, expressed happiness for the commitment of women to come together under COWA to tackle poverty among women.
Chief Ibeto therefore assured COWA of his willingness to partner with them in empowering Nigerian Women.
In her address, the Zonal Co-ordinator of COWA, Zone ‘C’; Mrs E O Agbaje said that COWA was established three years ago, with the goal of empowering women through enlightenment, training and mobilization.
She said the dream has been to make women economically independent as a way to reduce the financial burden on their husbands.
“Today’s event marks the beginning of a new era in the lives of women married to Customs Service, Port Harcourt Area I’’, Mrs Agbaje said.
She commended the National President of COWA for her success so far, saying said the National President’s determination has impacted positively on customs officers wives in Port Harcourt Area.
Also in her speech, wife of the Area I Customs Controller Mrs. S . D. Kuffi, Chairperson, COWA, Port Harcourt Area I said that Nigeria Customs Service plays an important role in the economic development of the nation. She said that, as wives, they have a role to play in helping their spouses to achieve the expected targets given by federal government.
“Without our co-operation and support, our husband may not be able to achieve much”, Mrs. Kuffi stated.
The high point of the event was presentation of empowerment items to graduands of their empowerment programme in Port Harcourt.
