The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) board has approved the promotion of 587 senior officers of the Superintendent cadre,743 of the Inspectorate cadre and 258 from the Supporting units of the Service.
While decorating the newly- promoted Comptrollers at the Customs headquarters in Abuja yesterday, the Comptroller-General of Customs, Alhaji Dikko Inde Abdullahi charged the affected officers to see their promotion as a call to higher duties.
While expressing satisfaction on the growth of revenue from a monthly average of N30billion in 2009 to more than N90billion monthly average in 2012, he charged the promoted officers to contribute to the ongoing transformation of the Service. “
“You must prove yourself worthy of this trust; the present Customs Service has no place for those who see higher position as opportunity for selfish interest”, he admonished.
Responding on behalf of the newly- promoted Comptrollers, Comptroller  Ade Dosumu thanked the board and management of the Service for the confidence reposed in them and promised to work hard to justify the elevation.
He said the privilege of the promotion cannot be toyed with, even as he assured the Customs boss  of their determination to contribute towards the achievement of the Service’s  six-point agenda with a renewed vigour.
Among those promoted are: Comptroller Olanrewaju Taju,  Comptroller Olawuwo Julius, the Service’s Public Relations Officer, Wale Adeniyi, who was promoted from the rank of Assistant Comptroller (AC) to Deputy Comptroller (DC), while his deputy, Chief Superintendent (CSC) Joseph Attah was promoted to the rank of Assistant Comptroller (AC).
Similarly, the Service’s management approved the promotion of 141 junior staff from the ranks of Customs Assistant to Inspector of Customs.
