The Acting Comptroller-General of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Bashir Adewale Adeniyi has expressed unwavering dedication to boosting the skills of customs officers and personnel through training at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies in Kuru, Jos.
The CG made this known on Tuesday, when he received the Director General National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Professor Ayo Omotayo and his management team, who paid him a courtesy visit at the NCS Headquarters, Abuja.
The Customs CG who appreciated NIPSS’s role in promoting trade in Nigeria pledged to continue collaboration, while emphasizing their joint efforts to find scientific solutions for trade modeling and monitoring of legitimate trades at entry and exit points.
Adeniyi acknowledged NIPSS’s vital role in advancing trade within Nigeria and emphasized the importance of their collaborative efforts while calling for sustainable partnership.
Professor Ayo Omotayo, in turn, congratulated the Acting Comptroller-General on his well-deserved appointment and noted that their visit aimed to address trade-related challenges that hinder smooth facilitation. He proposed the establishment of a data collection center for trade modeling and expressed optimism about the Customs’ pivotal role in trade facilitation. Additionally, he suggested the creation of a pension institute for retired officers and invited Customs to become an active member of NIPSS, fostering collaboration with other stakeholders to modernize trade practices in Nigeria.
