CUSTOMS SLAMS FOUR-COUNT CHARGE ON LUCKY AMIWERO

•    To Be Arraigned In Court Again Today
Embattled factional national president of the National Council of Managing Director of Licensed Customs Agents, Mr Lucky Eyis Amiwero was on Friday slammed with a four count charge by the Nigeria Customs Service at the Federal High Court in Ikoyi.
He was however unlucky as there was no judge to handle his case, he was consequently taken by to the Federal Operations Unit (FOU) where has been since last Thursday when he was arrested in his office by officers of the Customs from FOU.

Embattled factional national president of the National Council of Managing Director of Licensed Customs Agents, Mr Lucky Eyis Amiwero was on Friday slammed with a four count charge by the Nigeria Customs Service at the Federal High Court in Ikoyi.
He was however unlucky as there was no judge to handle his case, he was consequently taken by to the Federal Operations Unit (FOU) where has been since last Thursday when he was arrested in his office by officers of the Customs from FOU.
In the charges which was obtained by Shipping Position Daily, he was accused of issuing a document ‘to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria” without authority to do so. In the second charge, he was accused of giving false of information to the office of the President of the Federal Republic, which you know to be false ….”.
In the third charge, he was accused of forging “a document written to the office of the President of the Federal Republic as a chairman of National Council of Managing Directors of Licensed Customs Agents , which you are not”.
Finally, he was accused of obstructing and resisting “men and officers of the Nigeria Customs Service in the discharge of their lawful duty”.
Counsel to Mr Amiwero Barrister Osuala Nwagbara confirmed Amiwero’s arraignment to our correspondent over the weekend, and also disclosed that his client was taken back to FOU cell immediately after it was obvious that there was no judge to hear the case.
Nwagbara confirmed that he would be pushing for a bail for Mr Amiwero today.
Mr Amiwero was arrested at his office in Apapa last Thursday by Customs men from the Federal Operations Unit , he was moved to their Ikeja office from where he was taken to court last Friday.
Shipping Position Daily recalls that another claimant to the office of the national president of the association Chief Festus Ejiofor had told our correspondent shortly after Lucky’s arrest that, “the war has just started, because , he (Amiwero) has been using our letterhead paper to write letters to everyone including the Federal Government, he is an impostor”.
He also confirmed Customs wrote to him (Ejiofor) to inquire about the origin of the letters. I have to exonerate myself, I didn’t write nay letter as the national president of the Council’.
