Five Star Logistics terminal has introduced the use of reflective vest in its terminal a part of measures to identity those that have genuine business in the port and also, as a means of safety precaution.
Shipping Position Daily gathered that the vest which come in two colours namely; lemon green and orange are now in high demand by those who have one business or the other at the RORO terminal.
A safety officer at the terminal, Mr George Etor, told our correspondent that the need for wearing reflective vests is germane as it is now a law in the terminal which everyone who has business there must obey.
Etor said that the compliance by importers, freight forwarders and dockworkers that have businesses in the terminal has been encouraging, even as he said that whoever violates this law will be handed over to the port police.
‘’The terminal is not an all- comers affair, so we cannot allow everybody to just enter the place without proper check,  the reflective vest is one of conditions;  apart from the identity card and pass’’, he explained.
According to him, those that enter the terminal without the vest will be treated as smugglers; he also added that with the vest, it will be easier to identify any illicit act in the terminal.
He said that vehicles are more vulnerable, adding that everyone is a suspect when things go wrong in the premises, pointing out that the directive has been in existence for the past four weeks with positive response from terminal users.
‘’When you are caught without your vest, we will hand you over to the police who will tell you the law of contravening terminal operations. Since the introduction of the vest ,the terminal has been organized as the security personnel are on standby to enlighten those with a vest to  get one for safety measures at the terminal’’, he noted.
However, for those who are coming to the terminal and who are not aware of this development, there is a standby female seller at the entrance of the terminal who sells. Our correspondent gathered that the vest ranges from N500 to N700.
