IFFN, CRFFN collaborate in training freight forwarders

The Institute of Freight Forwarders of Nigeria (IFFN) said on Thursday that it was collaborating with the Council for Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) to train freight forwarders.
Mr Ademola Irinyemi, the Registrar and Executive Secretary of IFFN, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that the institute would provide the expertise while CRFFN would provide the logistics.

Mr Ademola Irinyemi, the Registrar and Executive Secretary of IFFN, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that the institute would provide the expertise while CRFFN would provide the logistics.
 He said that the CRFFN had commenced a training programme for Chief Executive Officers of freight forwarding companies, adding that the first batch of such training was held in May.
Irinyemi said the second batch of the training “is currently in progress in Lagos’’.
“The IFFN is now the technical partner of CRFFN and is assisting the government in providing quality training for industry players, aimed at intimating them with global best practices.
 “The CRFFN is the apex body for regulation of freight forwarding practice in Nigeria and to a very great extent, has been coming up with brilliant ideas and living up to expectations since inception in 2007.’’
 Irinyemi said the nationwide training programme was first held in Lagos and would subsequently be taken to Port Harcourt, Abuja and Kano.
He said the CRFFN would also organise a certificate programme in July in collaboration with the IFFN, accredited institutions, universities and other training institutes for freight forwarders.
 The IFFN chief appealed to the Federal Government, industry players, associations and agencies to assist the institute to ensure that all operators in freight forwarding embrace global best practices.
 Irinyemi said that with global best practices, the international community would be able to patronise indigenous freight forwarders to handle their business transactions.
 “My advocacy is that CRFFN should be encouraged by all and allowed to carry on its good work.
 “Our partnership with CRFFN will change the way freight forwarding is done in Nigeria and give us a new lease of life.”
