The Nigeria Institute of Freight Forwarding and Customs Brokers (NIFFCB) has said that plans are ongoing to set up a befitting resource centre for freight forwarding in Apapa, Lagos.

Acting executive secretary of the foremost freight forwarding institute, Mr. Ifeanyi Joseph made this known in an exclusive chat with Shipping Position Daily.

Joseph, also a director with the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) said that the essence of the resource centre is to give practitioners a sense of belonging in the practice of freight forwarding.

According to him, the centre will be situated in the heart of Apapa, where freight forwarding and customs formalities and procedures thrive; he added that, to achieve this, the institute is scouting for a befitting location.

The acting executive secretary further noted that the resource centre will include a state of the art library where relevant materials that can guide practitioners on freight forwarding terminologies will be made available.

He stressed that as apart the institute re -branding and restructuring process, there is the need for freight agents, as well as students to have a place that they can carry out research work to broaden their knowledge on supply chain management.

He further urged stakeholders in the maritime industry to take advantage of the centre in order to get relevant information about the profession.

"As we speak, plans are ongoing for the institute to build a resource centre for the benefit of  practitioners to carry out research in any given courses"

"It is going to be located in the heart of Apapa because it is a community where freight forwarding activities thrive the most and establishing a centre in Apapa means the operators can easily access the centre for reference purposes"

"It is an initiative of CRFFN because the NIFFCB is the  training arm of the council”, the acting executive secretary told our correspondent.
