IOTA To Hold Continual Professional Development Workshop

Foremost transport training institute, the Institute of Transport Administration Nigeria (IOTA) says it is set to hold a two- day workshop tagged “Continual Professional Development (CPD)” for professionals in the transport sector.

Foremost transport training institute, the Institute of Transport Administration Nigeria (IOTA) says it is set to hold a two- day workshop tagged “Continual Professional Development (CPD)” for professionals in the transport sector.
According to the institute, the programme which is billed to come up next week, 26th-27th of April, 2012 will have paper presentations with topics such as: ‘entrepreneurship and managerial skill: a necessity for attaining targets in transport operations’, and ‘understanding transport as a mover of national economy’
Other papers to be presented at the workshop are; ‘intermodal transport operations and control: key issues’ as well ‘logistics and physical distribution management: mastering the art of advance planning’
IOTA has also said that it is set to commence training courses for stakeholders who wishes to acquire a Post Graduate Degree (PGD) in transport and logistics management courses, graduate professional diploma examinations and professional diploma examinations.
According to information given to Shipping Position Daily by Prince Don Aki, the Sole Administrator of the institute, requirement for admission into the PGD programs includes; graduate professional diploma or holders of BA, Bsc, HND, and equivalent.
In the graduate professional diploma examination, applicants must have WAEC, GCE, SSCE or equivalents. There is also a special arrangement for armed forces dealing with logistics and supplies including the Nigerian Army, Navy, Nigerian Custom Service and the Federal Inland Revenue Service among others.
According to IOTA “the PGD will qualify you for a full corporate membership of IOTA and gives eligibility into range of masters’ programs in maritime, aviation or transport management in reputable universities in Nigeria and overseas”
There are about 15 courses available at the program which includes; transport management and administration, maritime transport and seaport administration, aviation and airports administration, logistics management, management information system, pipeline/petroleum transport/traffic education and safety.
