The Lagos State Government has commenced the monitoring of major filling stations in the state in order to check their level of compliance with the new pimp price of N97 per liter.
Shipping Position Daily gathered in Lagos last week that the State has already set up a monitoring team to check the excesses of some filling station that sell fuel above the required pump price of N97 per liter as well as those who under-dispense product to unsuspecting customers.
Our correspondent gathered from a source in the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) who claims anonymity said that the team has already visited different filling stations across Lagos and that many of them who were not compliant have been warned accordingly.
According to the source, “the various state governments have been working to assist the DPR by enlightening the citizenry and making life meaningful to them by watching the closely the activities of many of the filling stations”
He advised that it is important for customers to report to the DPR or the state government any filling station that they discover is selling the product above the recommended price so that appropriate actions can be taken on them.
The monitoring team was reported to be headed by the Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Taofiq Ajibade Tijani and it has already visited Total, Conoil filling stations on the Lagos-Ibadan Express way, Total filling station in Ojota, filling stations along Oregun –Ikeja Raod, Mobil and Oando stations on Maryland-Ojota link road, filling stations along Ikorodu –Ojuelegba road and MRS filling station at Alaka, Surulere.
The monitoring team will continue its monitoring activities across the state to ensure that the new pump price of N97 is strictly adhered to and filling stations dispense the products to the public.
