I Have Nothing Personal Against NAGAFF— Comptroller Shoboiki

Months after the feud between the immediate past Murtala Muhammed International Airport chapter chairman of National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) Mr. Segun Musa and the Customs Area Controller in charge of the Command; Comptroller Jane Shoboiki, the Comptroller has said that anything that happened between her and NAGAFF was in the cause of doing her job and nothing personal.

The MMIA  Custom boss, said this when the national president of NAGAFF, Chief Increase Uche, who was accompanied by  some national executives of the association paid a working visit to the Controller at the airport on Thursday.

She said that whatever happens in the cause of doing her job, she doesn't take it personal , adding that she has enough things to think about.

"In the cause of this job, obviously it is either you step on toes or they will step on your own toes. But you have to take it as one of the things you have to go through in the course of you doing your job. I never had anything personal with NAGAFF, everything has been in the course of doing my job. And I tell you I am such a person that whatever happens in life,  it end there as far as doing my job is concerned. I have enough things to think about, I have my dear family to look after my husband and all that. If I have to carry everything on my head and go home with it that will be very bad. As far as that is concerned I don't think I have any personal issue with NAGAFF, we are like brothers", she told the NAGAFF leaders.

"There is no need talking about the past because if we do Jesus wouldn't have given his life on the cross for us. As far as we are alive and human, we are bound to have one problem or the other, but the ability to let go is what matters”.

She also lauded the association for the visit stressing that there is need for stakeholders to constantly come together for the good of the industry.

Shoboiki frowned at the stories that her administration at airport is treating one association better than the other.

"I am glad you are paying this visit customs alone cannot make it we need our stakeholders and they also need us. We need to synergize to be able to work for the common good of the country we have no other country than Nigeria. I believe that NAGAFF being a body they have been trying their best like every other association. I am happy your here, ANLCA is also an association they are also stakeholders. I was not so happy when someone said that I was giving a preferential treatment and I wonder, how did I do it. The things that come to my table has no name of any association on it as far as you are customs officer you have to work with every stakeholder", she concluded.

Meanwhile,  Chief Uche Increase, maintained that there need for critical stakeholders in the sector to meet and plan on how to move the industry forward.

He explained that the association and the service have cemented their relationship to ensure progress.

"This is just a working visit, there is need from time to time for critical stakeholders to rub minds and collaborate and discuss issues and renew friendship. There is nothing in particular other than the fact that we are brothers, since she is here we need to identify with her  and have a cordial relationship with her"

"You are taking a way that NAGAFF and customs at MMIA have come together and we have cemented our relationship. That from now upwards l the things that are needed to be put on place will be put in place and there is no cause for alarm", he said.
