The Chairman of Starzs Investments Company Ltd., Mr Greg Ogbeifun, has urged the Federal Government to revive the Nigeria National Shipping Line (NNSL).
Ogbeifun made the appeal at the Nigeria Maritime Expo, 2014, which held in Lagos last week.
He said that resuscitating the shipping line would expose naval cadets to maritime training and improve the economic fortunes of the country.
He said that while the NNSL was functional it was able to train many mariners to the highest international standards.

The chairman added that the company also created huge employment opportunities in the country.
He, however, noted that the non-availability of a national carrier had created a gap which had been affecting development of seafarers.
Ogbeifun also urged government to show concern on national security, following an influx of foreign ships and foreign seafarers.
“Leaving shipping in the hands of foreign players with just a few indigenous players results in huge loss of revenue to government,’’ he said.
Ogbeifun suggested that professionals should be involved in the running of maritime institutions to ensure the introduction of relevant courses to meet the industry’s needs.
