Following the recent purported sack of some members from its fold, the port activity group; the Save Nigeria Importers, Exporters Coalition led by Chief Osita Patrick Chukwu, the legal adviser of the group, Barrister Nwagbara Osuala has said that he had never been a member of the group.
Nwagbara, who completely dissociated himself from the group, claimed that he had never been a member; rather he said he was only hired to render professional legal advice to the body.

The maritime lawyer told Shipping Position Daily in Lagos, that he was never the deputy national coordinator of the group, adding that membership of any association must have a definition, with certain criteria.
According to him, he was hired to give the group legal services, even as he stressed that he believed in the objectives and goals of the group.
He added that since the group chose not to agree with his advice, he opted out by withdrawing his services.
He explained that for one to be a member of any association or group, the individual is expected to possess some documents, identity card and even pay dues, but pointed out that he has none of such.
‘’All the members of Save Nigeria ,Freight Forwarders Importers, Exporters, Coalition are duly registered ,they have identity cards, they pay monthly dues  and registration numbers, but I don’t have any of these details, therefore how can they say they expelled me”.
He further stressed that, ‘’the truth is that you don’t expel a professional who works for you’’.
Nwagbara stated that the leadership of the maritime group chose not to follow his professional advice during the process of registration by insisting on the current nomenclature, which made them to tell the press that he was expelled.
‘’I am not a freight forwarder, neither am I an importer or exporter, I came in as a professional, because I believe in the objectives and vision of the group in ensuring a transparent port system, that is why I gave them my support to give the group legal backing, but I am not a member of the group”, he maintained.
