The National President of Nigerian Merchant Navy Officers and Water Transport Senior Staff Association, Engineer Matthew has emerged as auditor of the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria.
Engineer Alalade will share the position with Mr Afolabi Williams , a fellow of Institute of Export of Nigeria; both emerged winners during the recent TUC 9th Triennial elections which held recently in Abuja.

Engineer Alalade will share the position with Mr Afolabi Williams , a fellow of Institute of Export of Nigeria; both emerged winners during the recent TUC 9th Triennial elections which held recently in Abuja.
By his election, the merchant navy president is now a member of the executive committee of the Comrade Bobboi Bala Kaigama-led administration.
Alalade told Shipping Position Daily in Lagos yesterday that his position as auditor is also a boost for the maritime sector.
He said the maritime industry plays a key role in national economy and that there is the need for the industry to be fully represented in the unions.
The marine engineer said that the TUC and the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) will partner with other civil society groups in order to achieve set objectives.
He assured that the Nigerian seafarers under his watch will be duly represented in the union.
Engineer Alalade is also the general secretary of Association of Marine Radio and Electronic Officers ((AMERO) and was a member of Nigeria Port Monitoring Team, under Joint Maritime Labour Industrial Council between 2004 and 2005.
He was elected as president of the Nigerian Merchant Navy Water Transport Officers Senior Staff Association in 2012
