About 16 units of the mass transit buses that were promised by the federal government as part of its palliative measures to reduce the effect of the fuel subsidy removal has arrived at the Five Star Logistics terminal at the Tin Can Island Port in Lagos.
The new buses came into the port on the 19th of February aboard a vessel called Morning Carol from China at about 7.40pm local time.
The 48-passenger buses were still the same type of vehicles, manufactured in China which is called Yutong.

Shipping Position Daily confirmed on Monday, that the vehicles were on their way to the off dock terminal in Alakija before making their ways to the federal capital territory.
It would be recalled that President Goodluck Jonathan had recently commissioned some of the buses at a ceremony in Abuja and the buses are part of the 1,600 diesel- powered vehicles that were promised to boost transportation in the country as a result of the subsidy removal on petrol. The first set of 165 buses came into the port on the 16th of January aboard a vessel called Graceful Leader.
The newly- imported 16 units of mass transit buses are the second batch purchased from the N10 billion revolving loan set aside the by the federal government to address transport alternative in the country.
The federal government had earlier stated that the revolving loan is payable over five years period and also attracted 5% interest rate under the urban mass transit scheme which would made available to credible transporters and others involved in the transport business.
However, it was also gathered that the newly imported vehicles enjoyed duty- free concession from the Nigeria Customs Service.
