The Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has halted the implementation of its recently introduced tariff increase, in compliance with a directive from the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) to allow for broader stakeholder consultations.
In a customer advisory announcing the decision, the shipping giant confirmed that the previous tariff structure will remain in effect pending the outcome of ongoing engagements with the industry regulator.
The notice, titled “Temporary Suspension of New Tariff Implementation,” stated that the suspension follows regulatory intervention and will subsist until a final resolution is reached.
“We wish to inform our esteemed customers that the recently implemented tariff adjustment has been temporarily suspended, following a directive from the NSC. This suspension is pending the conclusion of ongoing engagements and resolution with the regulator,” the company said.
MSC added that, in line with the directive, the tariff regime that existed before the increase would continue to apply until further notice.
Reaffirming its commitment to compliance and customer interest, the company assured stakeholders that it would promptly communicate any updates arising from the regulator’s final decision.
“We remain fully committed to regulatory compliance, transparency, and protecting the interests of our customers. Further updates will be communicated once a definitive position is issued by the Nigerian Shippers’ Council,” the advisory noted.
