NAGAFF Founder Condemns Move To Revive CRFFN

Following Monday's meeting by some freight forwarders to revive the moribund Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN), the founder of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF), Dr Boniface Aniebonam has faulted the move even as he insisted that the only way for the council is to have a centre where all parties involved must come together.

Aniebonam who was present at the Maritime Reporters Congress of Nigeria (MARCON) secretariat in Lagos on Wednesday said that the problem with CRFFN has to do with human element, adding that sabotage and lack of knowledge by the governing council members on how to administer the council gave rise to the present predicament.
The NAGAFF founder affirmed that the meeting some members of the governing council on how the crisis facing CRFFN could be addressed was a platform for them to return the money that he alleged has been embezzled.
"I don't know what they want to tell us or is it the over N1Billion that they have eaten that they want to return and I heard they want to make contributions which I believe they want to probably return the money they have eaten”, he alleged.
"The problem with CRFFN has to do with human element, the problem has to do with sabotage , the problem has to do with lack of knowledge and lack of knowledge in this regard speaks volume of the what was the mindset, those who cut out this concept what do they have in mind".
"Those people who were in the council ( maybe one or two persons you can exonerate)  the whole of them went there to propagate Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents which is mundane which has no place in the council".
He said that the council started on a bad note which in turn made it dysfunctional.
He further stated that, "those that were in attendance at that meeting are only seeking relevance through another window because they have done there tenure and it is over".
"I don't know the advice they want to give, as to the issue of the transport ministry and the council itself, it is most unfortunate but I think that if you look at the midterm report by the minister of transport, you will find out that CRFFN was not mentioned as a parastatal of the transport ministry. This goes a long way to prove that CRFFN is not a parastatal of transport ministry, but under the supervision of the ministry”,
Aniebonam stated that the aim to revive CRFFN cannot be achieved when the key stakeholders are not involved.
He also noted that CRFFN is exclusive to one association which is ANLCA, saying that it is a major problem of the council.
