Navy Arrests 3 Members Of Recruitment Syndicate

The Nigerian Navy has announced that it  arrested three members of a syndicate involved a recent recruitment scam.
Commodore Segun Adebari, the Commander of Naval Unit in Abuja, said the men were arrested on March 7, 2013.
Adebari said the suspects were involved in illegal naval recruitment.
He stressed that their arrest was in line with the Nigerian Navy’s zero-tolerance for criminality both afloat and ashore.
“They have fallen for a bait of N45,000 which they wanted to collect from an innocent citizen,’’ he said.

“They have fallen for a bait of N45,000 which they wanted to collect from an innocent citizen,’’ he said.
Adebari said the suspects had previously collected N150,000 from one Bulus Doje, who fell to their fraudulent antics.
He added that the ring leader of the syndicate based in Calabar was still at large.
According to him, the ring leader, still being trailed, coordinates the fake training at Atu Primary School in Atimbo, Calabar.
He said fake Nigerian navy identity cards, photocopies of credentials belonging to several individuals, mobile phones and navy uniform accoutrements, were found in their possession.
He added that a Mitsubishi Lancer car with registration no. AA2808LND was also found with them.
“May I use this opportunity to sound a note warning to criminals and would-be criminals that the hands of the law is short and any act of criminality will not go uncovered,’’ he added.
The commander said the group would be handed over to the police for further interrogation.
One of the suspects said he was just taken to Calabar for Navy merchant training but was arrested when he returned to Abuja.
He said they were only given identity cards and had not collected any money nor benefited anything from the group.
