New Port Manager Zhattau Calls for Collaboration, Improved Security at Onne Port Complex

In a determined effort to optimize operations and ensure a secure maritime environment, the recently- appointed Port Manager, Onne Port Complex; Prince G.C. Zhattau has advocated for heightened collaboration and improved security measures at the port.

 

Prince G.C. Zhattau made this call during a recent courtesy visit to major terminals at the Port Complex. The visits aimed to foster cooperation, familiarize the new Port Manager with terminal operations, and discuss matters of mutual interest.

 

According to an official statement signed by the Head, Corporate and Strategic Communications, Onne Port Complex, Mrs Ejemeh Nchey-Achukwu which was made available to our correspondent , it disclosed that Prince Zhattau  while engaging with the  General Manager, Brawal Oil Services, Mrs. Esther Igbongidi and her team, highlighted the importance of efficiency and sustainability in the value chain.

 

As a former Traffic Manager, Zhattau expressed familiarity with their operations and stressed the significance of synergy and collaboration for the overall benefit. While appealing to them on synergy and collaborations, the PM revealed the reason why NPA concessioned the terminal to them as the terminal operator emphasizing on “efficiency, consistency, sustainability and ability to add value in the value chain” he stated.

 

Acknowledging the support of Managing Director Mohammed Bello Koko, Prince Zhattau at Onne Multi-Purpose Terminal (OMT) sought further collaboration, particularly in enhancing port security. Zhattau was warmly received by Mr. James Stewart, the Chief Operating Officer (COO), on behalf of the Managing Director Mr. Jacob Gulmann.

 

Visiting West African Container Terminal (WACT), the Port Manager commended the terminal’s infrastructural development and expressed gratitude for their role in the port family.

 

The Managing Director of WACT, Mr. Naved Zafar, highlighted their capacity, achievements, and commitment to ongoing improvements. Both parties agreed on the importance of collaboration, focusing on security, revenue generation, and building robust business relationships.

 

The new port Manager’s  visit to Indorama Fertilizer Company at Federal Ocean Terminal (FOT) reaffirmed the commitment to a purposeful partnership. The discussions covered key areas such as security, corporate social responsibility (CSR), and proper illumination of the port environment.

 

Prince G.C. Zhattau emphasized three major areas of collaboration – security, community relations/CSR, and proper illumination of the port environment. According to him, these align with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Ministerial Performance Bond, ensuring strict compliance.

 

Accompanying the Port Manager were key members of the Port Complex, including the Head of Corporate and Strategic Communications, Mrs. Barbara Ejemeh Nchey-Achukwu, Traffic Manager Mr. Abolade Surajudeen, Chief Port Engineer Engr. Uzor Akwarandu, Chief Estate Officer Mr. Ben Idemudia, Senior Manager Corporate and Strategic Communications Mr. Eze Nkwocha, and others.
