The newly-appointed Commissioner of Police in charge of the nation's seaports, Mrs. Sherifat Disu Olajoku has warned that she is not a friend to criminals and lawless people; even as she vowed to deal with any police officers who fail to conduct himself properly in the port.
She handed down this warning yesterday when she went on a familiarization tour of the Apapa port and the police command at the port.
The newly-appointed Commissioner of Police in charge of the nation's seaports, Mrs. Sherifat Disu Olajoku has warned that she is not a friend to criminals and lawless people; even as she vowed to deal with any police officers who fail to conduct himself properly in the port.
She handed down this warning yesterday when she went on a familiarization tour of the Apapa port and the police command at the port.
Olajoku warned that officers must henceforth carry out their duties professionally, because according to her, no act of indiscipline or corruption will be tolerated. Officers must abide by the code of conduct recently launched by the Inspector General of Police she said.
"For the criminals, I will do everything within my power to get rid of them and their nefarious activities because I am not a friend to criminals or lawless people, for the members of the Police Force, I warn them to conduct their duties professionally as no act of indiscipline or corruption will be tolerated" she said.
She however promised to work hand in hand with the relevant stakeholders in the maritime sector after acknowledging the fact that the Police alone cannot guarantee a safe port environment.
"There is need for synergy between the agencies and I shall do everything to encourage this. To the other stakeholders, I shall do everything within my power to ensure that there is no threat to security within the port" she assured.
