The Managing Director of NPA, Omar Suleiman, has assured the Director General of Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency [NIMASA] of his preparedness to collaborate and to partner with NIMASA and indeed all stakeholders on matters that can move the industry forward. Such inter-agency collaboration would enhance the realisation of the objectives of the transformation Agenda of President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration in the maritime sector.

The managing director gave this assurance while playing host to the Director General, NIMASA, Mr Patrick Akpobolokemi at the NPA corporate head office.
Earlier in his address, the DG NIMASA, described his courtesy call to the MD of NPA, as both solidarity and partnership visit especially in view of rumours and insinuations that NPA and NIMASA do not agree on issues in the maritime sector. He said that both NPA and NIMASA are joint stakeholders in the industry, stressing that he and Suleiman share similar opinions on ways of moving the Maritime Industry forward and had on numerous occasions collaborated very well on matters bordering on the interests of the two organizations.
The Director General stated that there are so many areas of collaboration, but the most critical is that of security of our water ways and informed the Managing Director that NIMASA will soon take delivery of 10 patrol boats to complement existing security infrastructure in the industry.
While emphasising that all agencies in the maritime sector are all working for the development of the nation, he assured that a renewed synergy between NPA and NIMASA will engender mutual financial benefit to both organisations. He declared “NIMASA has invented a package whose implementation will not only bring about increase in revenue to NIMASA but also to NPA and Nigeria Custom Service”
The Director General was accompanied by his Executive Directors in charge of Maritime and Safety, Dr. Ibrahim Shekarau, Cabotage and Labour Matters, Hon. Ibrahim Zelani and other top management staff.
Also present at the meeting on the side of NPA were the Executive Director Finance and Admin. Mallam Habib Abdulahi, Executive Director Engineering and Technical Services, Mr. S.C. Nwobi, General Manager Marine Captain Ebubeogu, General Manager Public Affairs, Chief Michael Ajayi, General Manager Security, Lt. Col. J. Tahir [RTD] and S.A. to MD, Mr. C.A. Borha.
