The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has assured that the welfare and wellbeing of its workers remains one of the most important priority of its present administration.
The organization’s Managing Director, Engineer Omar Suleiman gave this assurance last week while speaking at the 21st Joint Consultative Conference (JCC) of the Senior Staff Association of Communications, Transport and Corporations (SACTAC) in Ibadan.

The organization’s Managing Director, Engineer Omar Suleiman gave this assurance last week while speaking at the 21st Joint Consultative Conference (JCC) of the Senior Staff Association of Communications, Transport and Corporations (SACTAC) in Ibadan.
Engineer Omar Suleiman explained that his team since assuming office has commenced payment of the 2009 end of the year bonus, payment of monetization arrears, introduction of the new gratuity policy, prompt payment of salaries and allowance, and presentation of the revised conditions of service.
According to the managing director, “in furtherance of management’s commitment to workers’ welfare, a committee to work on the financial guide to the conditions of service has been constituted and it is hoped that its recommendations would go a long way in meeting the aspirations of the workforce”.
Commending the association’s leadership for their cooperation and understanding, Suleiman said the management expected the workers to remain committed, productive, dedicated, and punctual to work.
“The expectation of management is that workers remain committed, productive, dedicated, and punctual to work. This will surely move the organization to greater heights in achieving its vision of being the leading port in Africa”, said Suleiman who noted that his management’s door was open and ideas that could move the organisation were welcomed.
