NPA’S NEW IMAGE MAKER ASSUMES DUTY

The newly appointed General Manager, Public Affairs of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Chief Micheal Kayode Ajayi, has assumed duties.

Chief Ajayi,  an alumnus of Nigeria’s premier University, the University of Ibadan where he bagged a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science and Philosophy also holds a Master of Science degree in Political Science, from the same university.

The new image maker attended the University of Calabar where he obtained a post graduate Diploma in Management.  He also holds a Diploma in Computer Studies
from the University of Ife.

Chief Ajayi who hails from Mopa in Mopamuro local government area of Kogi State, also holds the traditional chieftaincy title of OOju Sasu of Mopa as well as the Olubode of Mopa Land.

 
He started his working career with the Kwara State Ministry of Education as an Education Officer II and was later seconded to the Directorate of Social Moblisation (MAMSER) Kwara State, from where he rose to head the Political Education Department. 

A seasoned administrator, Chief Ajayi equally had a brief stint with the Kwara Industrial Trust Fund Limited, Ilorin as Manager, and left the company in 1993 as Branch Manager of Kogi State Branch.

Chief Ajayi joined the services of the Nigerian Ports Authority in 1993 as Manager, Personnel. He was subsequently opportuned to head the Human
Resources Department of several Ports from 1997 to 2003.

 In 2006, he was made the Assistant General Manager, Human Resources Western Zone, after which he became Acting General, Manager human Resources, Western Ports in 2007.  He was to become General Manager, Administration in 2009; a position he held until his latest posting to the Public Affairs Division as general manager.

He is a member of several professional bodies, which includes: Institute of Personnel Management and the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM).

Chief Ajayi is a sports enthusiast; a retired grade one football referee and a member of Nigerian Football Referee Association.  He was given special management commendation for leading NPA athletes to first position in the 2004 and 2009 Federation of Public Service Games (FEPSGA).

 The new image maker of NPA is media- friendly and a prolific writer who has written several articles on issues of public interest which have been published in national dailies; especially, Nigerian Tribune and The Herald.  He is fluent in English, Yoruba and Hausa languages.
