The Comptroller in charge of the command, Comptroller Ahmed Jamo disclosed this information to Shipping Position Weekly correspondent in Port Harcourt.
He assured that his men are determined to contribute optimally to the revenue base of federal government as well as to enhance service delivery to the Nigerian people.
The comptroller noted that bulk of the revenue generated at the command comes from bulk cargoes that are shipped into the ports, saying that the breakdown of the revenue generated in January alone stands at N2.1b.
Giving a breakdown of the revenue, Comptroller Jamo said that in the month of February, the command was able to generate N2.9b while for the month of March; the Command generated total revenue of N2.9b.
Obviously excited by the impressive performance, Compt. Jamo said that the N7.9b of the first quarter is an improvement compared to the monthly target of N2.16b of 2010. According to him, it has now increased to N2.9b monthly in 2011, adding that, “e feel better for the performance so far”.
While applauding the activities of NPA, and other Terminal Operators at the Port Harcourt Ports, especially PTOL, BUA and Dangote, Compt. Ahmed Jamo acknowledged that the revenue were realized because they were able to block all loopholes that impede the increase of revenue generation.
