The Port Authority Police Command yesterday paraded five suspected sea robbers for stealing 24 gallons of paint from a vessel called MV Anatolli Piraeus, which berthed at the Greenview Development Nigeria Limited terminal at the Lagos Port Complex.
Addressing journalists at the Marine Police Station Elegbata in Marina Lagos, the Port Authority Police Commissioner; Mrs Sherifat Disu Olajoku said that the arrests were made on the 18th of April ,2013 at about 1.30pm.

Addressing journalists at the Marine Police Station Elegbata in Marina Lagos, the Port Authority Police Commissioner; Mrs Sherifat Disu Olajoku said that the arrests were made on the 18th of April ,2013 at about 1.30pm.
She said men of the Elegbata police station received a distress call from the marine police attached to GDNL terminal, adding that the suspects broke into the ship that just berthed and they started carting away some items on board.
She said that the items were recovered from the suspected robbers, pointing out that the 20 litres each of the24 gallons of paint were recovered as well as marine rope.
She said the suspects used a motorised boat to carry out the robbery, adding that since their arrest, they have been in police custody.
Olajoku said that the suspects would be charged to court in order to send a signal to all ‘wharf rats’ and criminals operating in the seaports, noting that the port is not for miscreants.
The Commissioner stressed that the owners of the exhibits has come to the command to confirm that the items belong to them.
"We want to charge this people to court so that they can face the music and thereafter due processes of the court and we could release the exhibit to the owners".
She also noted that the essence of the action is to send a message to criminals operating at the seaports.
"This is not the first one we have done in recent times, but this is the latest one”, she added.
"The raiding of miscreants at the ports will be continuous and we are not stopping, "the commissioner assured.
The suspects however claimed to be fishermen operating within the Apapa port complex, they are: Tosin Oke, John Emmanuel,George Rufus ,Godwin Felix and Femi Benjamin.
