Princess Chi Ezeh, Managing Director of Muna Sylver Nigeria Limited, has praised Comptroller Olanrewaju Olumoh, Area Controller of the Lekki Free Zone Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), for his recent success in intercepting significant drug shipments. Olumoh recently transferred two 40-foot containers filled with illegal drugs, seized at the Lekki Deep Sea Port, to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in a handover supervised by Commander Jonah Achema of the NDLEA’s Lekki Command.

Princess Chi, also the Vice President of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) for the Western Zone, expressed her satisfaction with Comptroller Olumoh’s commitment to securing the Lekki port against illicit drug traffickers.

She stated, “When a new seaport like Lekki Deep Sea Port opens, genuine shippers, freight forwarders, and port users see opportunities for growth, especially with the deep-sea capabilities.

“Unfortunately, drug smugglers also view it as a fresh chance for illegal operations. We’ve seen how Apapa, Tin Can Island Port, and others have become difficult terrains for smugglers. Now, they’re testing the waters at Lekki. It’s reassuring that the Area Controller is upholding both the service’s and the nation’s integrity.”

The seized pharmaceutical products, imported from Karachi in Pakistan were recently formally handed over during a ceremony held at the Lekki Deep Sea Port. The confiscated goods included one 40-foot container (number TLLU7519041), which contained 159 cartons of Royal Tramadol 225mg tablets, 50 cartons of Bla 225mg Tramadol Hydrochloride tablets, and 180 cartons of Tramakking Tramadol 225mg tablets. Another 40-foot container (number TLLU751904) held 115 cartons of Trama King 225mg tablets and 245 cartons of Tamra 225mg tablets. The total duty paid value (DPV) of these drugs is estimated at ₦9,725,000,000.00.

Comptroller Olumoh highlighted the essential role of inter-agency collaboration that led to the successful seizure of these containers. He credited the support and policy directives from Comptroller-General of Customs Adewale Adeniyi, whose commitment to enhancing the performance of the 13 free zones under the Lekki Free Zone Command has contributed to this operation’s success.
