The PTML command of the Nigeria Customs Service has collected about N17billion as revenue within the firsts half of the year.
In a document which was made available to Shipping Position Weekly by the command last week, the breakdown of the figure reveals that there has been a remarkable increase in the command’s revenue for the month of June when it collected about N3. 19billion as compared to the revenue of about N1. 976billion which it collected in the corresponding period in 2009. It also recorded six seizures within the first half of 2010..
The document also confirmed that the command under its present Comptroller, Mr. Ekporwei Edike has surpassed 2009 record by as much as N4, 147,088,974.77billion
The command also said that the January to June, 2010 revenue is the highest collected since the command was created some years ago.
Expectedly exited by the performance, the command’s Public Relations Officer, Barrister Chinedu Ogbonna told our correspondent that “the revenue for the first half of this year was the highest revenue generated from this command since inception and it is just three percent short of target, we are confident that if we keep up the tempo we will surpass our expectation for the year 2010.”
