Rivers Port Manager, Reaches Out To Less Privileged

The Rivers Port Manager; Mrs. Carolyn Akum Ufere has led top management staff on a corporate social responsibility (CSR) visit to some charity homes in Port Harcourt, River state. The visit was embarked upon during the recent Easter celebrations.
At the Home for the Elderly, which is  located at No 33 Harbour Road in Port Harcourt, while presenting some food items and toiletries for the upkeep of  the inmates, the Port Manager  explained that they decided to come to identify with the inmates in the spirit of the season.

At the Home for the Elderly, which is  located at No 33 Harbour Road in Port Harcourt, while presenting some food items and toiletries for the upkeep of  the inmates, the Port Manager  explained that they decided to come to identify with the inmates in the spirit of the season.
She recalled that when Rivers Port celebrated its centenary, the port management also visited and commended the management of the home for doing a good job, even as she acknowledged that what the keepers of the home are doing is a service to God and Humanity, and encouraged them not to relent.
She said that the home is helpful, because it brings old people together to interact with one another, instead of being left alone at home by their respective families.
Mrs. Ufere commended the sanitary condition of the home and prayed that God will bless the personnel and management of the home, for their sacrifices.  
Responding, the Matron of the Home for the Elderly, Rev. Sister MaryJane Raphael Agubosi expressed happiness for the visit by Rivers Port Management. She commended them for their hospitality and apologized for her absence during their visit last year to the home.
She said the Home for the Elderly has about 30 inmates and observed that they have series of challenges.
The Port Manager and her team also visited Port Harcourt Children’s Home, Borokiri where she gave gift items to support the needs of the children.
Responding, the Matron of the Home;  Mrs. Barile Nwakoh thanked Rivers Port Manager and her team for the visit. She assured them that they will utilize the gift items well, in the upkeep of the children, noting that children in the home appreciate their care and support.
The Rivers Port Manager is involved in many humanitarian works. A close source hinted that she initiated and co-founded the committee of friends for humanity (COFFHA) an NGO established in 1993.
It was learnt also that the Non Governmental Organization (COFFHA) embarked on several projects including building of COFFHA Emergency Centre at Isolo General Hospital, Lagos. Refurbishing and furnishing of a 16 bed female ward; and provision of 20KVA generator for Apapa Health Centre, Lagos among others.
