The Tin Can Island Chapter of Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria [RTEAN] has elected 10 new executive members to oversee the activities of the unit for the next four years.
The election which came in form of selection and adoption was held at the association’s State headquarter at Agboju in Lagos had Alhaji Isiaka Olalere emerging as chairman, taking over from Comrade Sylvester Keshinro, who has completed his term.

The election which came in form of selection and adoption was held at the association’s State headquarter at Agboju in Lagos had Alhaji Isiaka Olalere emerging as chairman, taking over from Comrade Sylvester Keshinro, who has completed his term.
Other elected executives are ; Alphonsus Ezechukwu as Vice Chairman, Jagun Rasheed as Secretary ,Kassim Govinson as Treasurer and Christian Agana as Financial Secretary.
Femi Gbeleyi emerged as the image maker of the chapter, Alhaji Waidi Alamu as Auditor, Pastor Donald Onyenezeh as Organizing Secretary, Pastor Sylvester Keshinro as Trustee , Chief G.C.Ene as Chief Whip, while Mr.Agbanusi emerged as Deputy Administrator.
The newly- elected chairman, told Shipping Position Daily that there is the need for the Lagos state government to have re–think on new road traffic law, saying that it is too harsh for the maritime industry.
Olalere said that the new law will definitely paralyse the activities at the ports in the state and also create congestion at the two major seaports in Lagos.
‘’The new Lagos state traffic law is not good for the maritime sector because there is no infrastructure in place and the only way to transport goods from the ports is by road, our rail system is not in good condition, then if the government chooses to enforce that law, then I must say that the ports are in jeopardy because it will cripple the activities at the ports in the state.’’
He promised to carry members of the chapel along and to run the affairs of the unit in a transparent manner.
The chairman also promised to bring back all aggrieved members who had left the unit as a result of misunderstand, adding that he will be loyal to all the executives.
The Tin Can Island Chapter of RTEAN also oversees activities of the Apapa and Kirikiri units of the association
