Stakeholders in the maritime industry have commended the retiring National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Commander of Narcotics Apapa, Inalegwu Ameh for his commitment and selfless service to the agency.
Stakeholders who gathered on Thursday to celebrate the retiring officer at a send forth celebration described the retiring commander as a loyal and hardworking commander, who is full of love and integrity.
In his welcome address at the ceremony, the Acting Commander of Apapa Special Area Command, NDLEA, Jonah Aguba eulogised Inalegwu, describing him as a forthright, simple and straightforward person.
He said, “May I make haste to note that here is a man that has touched many lives and careers, even when his stay was as short as a full stop. It was a case of a thunderstorm which can be very brief but very bright”.
“It is a celebration of elegance and excellence.
A man of divinity, integrity, honesty, humility, accountability, ability, capability, and nobility.
“A very straightforward and very simple man, hence, an officer and a gentleman.
“With the privilege of being your course mate, I need not recall how you naturally emerged as the G1 of the course. No re-election, no selection, you have remained our G1, so many years after, and you have continued to manage the affairs of FOBC9 till today.
“It is this same leadership style that you have brought to bear on the asymmetric drug war.
“Your known genetic capabilities and your doctrine of seamless operation have brought a world of difference to the containment of drugs through the maritime corridors.
“Your weapon of mass persuasion has turned an average operator within maritime Industry into a veritable foot soldier in the war against drug abuse and illicit drug trafficking,” he said.

Also speaking, Muhammad Aminu Abubakar, the Commander of Tin Can Port, NDLEA, said that Ameh’s retirement only tells the fact that whatever has a beginning must come to an end in every endeavour of human existence.
He described Ameh as a bridge-builder and hardworking person who has already written his name in gold.
The Managing Director, Apapa Bulk Terminal Limited (ABTL), in his goodwill message, said “the good work you have done in the course of your service, you have done necessarily very well.
“I met him once but I always remember he was refined”.
He distinguished himself among all the agencies and I told him when we met that I will recommend him as the best among all the agencies of government.”
Responding, Inalegwu Ameh appreciated all the guests who came from all over Nigeria to honour and grace the occasion of his retirement and send forth ceremony.
His words: “For me, it has been God.
This job gives me the opportunity to see Nigerians as Nigerians and finally, I found myself at Apapa Special Area Command.
And when I came, I told officers that I have this grace to work and that grace, gave me the formula for the officers to do the work and I was just directing.
We were able to build three powerful teams, synergy was seamless, 24 hours of the day everybody was able to access us and we were also available.”
