Tin Can Customs Vows to Tackle Smuggling

Immediate past Customs  Area Controller in charge of Tin Can Island port command of the Nigeria Customs Service, Mr David Agbaje has disclosed that he was leaving the command as a more secured business area that can tackle the antics of smuggling effectively.
Agbaje who was recently transferred to the Customs headquarters gave this assurance shortly before hading over to his successor, Alhaji Ibrahim Mera who was also moved from the neighbouring Port and Terminal Multiservices Limited (PTML) command.
He disclosed at the formal handing over ceremony that the command has put adequate precautionary measures inn place to to ensure that contraband do not come into the country through the command.  
According to him, the command has been secured for genuine businesses and added that as area controller he had ensured that trade facilitation was the watchword even as he reiterated that the command’s revenue target for the year is N210Billion.
The outgoing controller recalled that the command had seized arms and ammunitions recently due to the efforts of its officers and men.
Responding, the in-coming area controller, Ibrahim Mera assured the command’s personnel and those who use the command for their businesses that he would build on the achievements and policies of his predecessor’
“I want to do anything humanly possible to improve on the successes achieved by my predecessor, but I need your commitment. I want to leave TCIP better than I met it”, he stressed.
According to him, his mission to the command was to better the lots of the maritime industry. He however disclosed that he has already identified some areas that are in need of attention.
