Barring any last minute cancellation, the Federal Ministry of Transportation will today hold a meeting the Maritime Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) and the International Oil Companies (IOCs).
The meeting is aimed at resolving issues surrounding the recent strike embarked upon by the workers over non-payment of wages allegedly owed them by the International Oil Companies (IOCs).
Shipping Position Daily confirmed yesterday that the meeting will also be attended by the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA).
A copy of the letter of invitation for the meeting which was sighted by our correspondent indicated that it would hold at the conference room of the ministry. The letter dated, July 24, 2019 was signed by the Director of Maritime; S.U Galandachi.
Shipping Position Daily recalls that the union had embarked on the warning strike recently over unpaid wages to dockworkers by the international oil companies (IOCs).
The strike was later suspended after the intervention of the NPA.
