Explosion on board of Indian Navy destroyer killed 3 and injured 11
Explosion in inside compartment of Indian Navy destroyer INS RANVIR killed 3 and injured at least 11 seamen, on Jan 18, in Mumbai, at Naval Dockyard. Damages said to be small. Investigation under way.

General cargo ship holed, taking on water, central Vietnam
General cargo ship VIET PHU 16 in the morning Jan 16 suffered underwater hull breach, under unclear circumstances. Understood the ship hit some underwater object, or contacted bottom, and started to take on water, southwest of Cu Lao Cham island, Quang Nam Province, central Vietnam, East China sea. Ship’s bottom in two cargo holds was holed, also ship’s bow was said to be damaged. She was ordered to approached shallow waters of Cu Lao Cham island, to avoid sinking – understood to intentionally run aground? The ship with 2330 tons of cement on board is en route from Hai Phong to Chu Lai, Quang Nam Province
Polish freighter collided with Lock wall in Brunsbuettel
General cargo ship TARZAN contacted the wall of Northern Lock at Brunsbuettel, Kiel Canal, while entering Canal, at around 0215 UTC Jan 18. Both ship and wall sustained some damages, understood to be slight. After inspection, TARZAN was allowed to resumed Canal transit, she completed transit same day and continued voyage from Eemshaven Netherlands to Liepaja Latvia.
Fire on Japanese bulk carrier loaded with Russian wheat, in Pakistan
Fire erupted on board of bulk carrier ROYAL JADE at Karachi port, at night Jan 19. The ship with 57750 tons of wheat arrived from Novorossiysk, Russia, was berthed on Jan 19. Reportedly, barrels with carbide on cargo deck caught fire. Karachi Port firefighters responded, by morning Jan 20, most probably, fire was extinguished.
