What is your assessment of Prince Olayiwola Shittu’s three years in office as ANLCA president?

Alhaji Akanni Balogun (ANLCA, Tin Can)
Prince Olayiwola Shittu’s administration has been the best that ANLCA has ever had in the history of the association. Before he came in, ANLCA was nothing to write home about, even the association could not  pay the rent of its national secretariat and they were thrown out, but when he came in, he solely financed the present national secretariat, he is a committed leader who believes that the profession must move forward, he has toured the whole chapters, when the customs were being stubborn he took it up with them, now the custom is protecting us, but before it was not so, now there is respect and dignity, he brought  pride to the profession.

Charles Ubah (ANLCA, Tin Can)
Prince Olayiwola Shittu is a blessing that has happened to ANLCA, prior to his emergence, ANLCA was in comatose and this really gave NAGAFF the opportunity to spring up, this is the only president that has showed that there are good things in custom brokerage. Prince Shittu is somebody that believes in human capital development, capacity building, and this has transformed ANLCA, the present arrangement at the national headquarters was not there before, internationally now ANLCA is recognized, he is the first president on the presidential team in maritime issues, this means that they are recognizing ANLCA even at the Aso Rock because somebody that has what it takes has assumed the saddle of leadership, he has done well and I know he has a lot more to do. By the time he finally leaves, I pray we can get somebody to fit into his big shoes because at a time, the edge NAGAFF had over ANLCA was their intellectual operations, the way they attend seminars and present papers, then ANLCA was just like a garrison NURTW people, but government can only listen to you when you argue constructively and make inputs, but now we have somebody that believes in ANLCA, he believes in what he wants to do for the association and not what he wants to get from it.

Davids Chucks Kanikwu (ANLCA, Tin Can)
His performance is there for all to see, he has done wonderfully well, ANLCA has been taken to a height it has never been taken to before; he came into office and promised a lot of things, as far as I am concerned he has delivered more than 75% of what he promised. First of all, ANLCA had no befitting secretariat before he came in, but now we have one that is world-class, he promised bringing professionalism into the association, and as you can see now ANLCA has been profiled to a level that it is internationally recognized, before he came in we were not members of FIATA, IFCB, we have not been attending WCO conferences, we didn’t have international sponsorship for anything, but now you can see that almost every month there is something happening, so people are now becoming more enlightened about the association. He has achieved a lot through dialogue, he brought in professionalism, because, before now many agents have been drinking Panadol for their importers headaches, but he has let us know that these things are wrong.

Emmanuel Tobi (Vice Chair, PTML; ANLCA)
The president has tried so much; he has brought the association to a high standard both on local and international levels, we are now being recognized all over the world, he has created an avenue for the executives to be going for periodic trainings, apart from this, he always call for meeting and he tries to know the level of each chapter executives, he tries to know how they have moved in their chapters. He should continue to work and reorganize the association, especially with elections; people are not happy because of the way it was conducted, when he was the chairman of ASECO he did not disqualify anybody, he allowed everyone to go and contest, when you fail you know that you have failed, but this new method of disqualifying candidates is not good, when you know someone is not qualified, why did you allow him to buy the form.

No man is perfect. Therefore Prince Olayiwola Shittu has contributed his own quota as the national president of ANLCA. However he has his shortcomings even though many people would want to be sycophantic in their assessment of the gentleman. In my own opinion which will come as an advice to him despite being the best so far among all the presidents that the association has produced from inception, I must say that he has to concentrate on the chapter levels because this is where the main activities take place. Again he needs to pay more attention for the training of younger members of the association; because those that benefit from the trainings are basically the old hands which I believe should not be so because the younger ones are those you find in the field. However he has performed above 50 percent.

Chukwunonso Chukwudinma (Caretaker committee, ANLCA; KLT)
The general assessment of the national president of ANLCA; Prince Olayiwola Shittu is that he has done well, because the innovations he has brought to the association are quite commendable. The introduction of seminars both locally and internationally and bringing the association members to be aware of the current shipping trend is quite good. Then in governance, he has been able to mediate between the national and chapter levels. But generally, no man is perfect in terms of managing human beings.

Egbuchulam Okey (Freight Forwarder)
The ANLCA national president; Prince Olayiwola Shittu has performed individually. As the president of the association with his national executives he has performed exceedingly well, but then let us take into cognizance that ANLCA as at presence is running a decentralized system of government. That is from chapter to national level. For instance  revenue ordinarily ought to come from the chapter level as part of subsidy to the national level and what the chapter declares automatically is what the national gets, thus people are satisfied in that regard.  But my assessment of the president of ANLCA is 90 percent in his overall performance.

Joseph Nnamocha (ANLCA Member)
As a leader he has made his own impact unlike every other leaders of the association. He has conducted a successful election even though it was cancelled, he initiated the biometric ID card, he introduced the insurance scheme; these are all welcome development in the system, therefore he has done well in the last three years though we still expect more from him. Bluntly speaking the leaders and authority of ANLCA should not allow ANLCA politics to be for the highest bidder, because at the end of the day, it will blow down to the president. However elections in ANLCA should be a friendlier affair.

KNOW YOUR BODY PARTS: The Liver The liver is a vital organ located in the right upper abdomen, playing a crucial role in metabolism, detoxification, and digestion. It’s the largest solid organ in the body and is responsible for filtering blood, maintaining blood sugar levels, regulating clotting, and synthesizing essential proteins. The liver also stores energy, removes toxins, and produces bile, which aids in digestion Liver functions: · Metabolism and Detoxification: The liver processes nutrients from the blood, breaks down and balances them, and creates essential substances for the body. It detoxifies harmful substances like drugs and alcohol, converting them into less toxic forms for excretion. The liver plays a role in the metabolism of proteins, carbohydrates, and fats. It stores glycogen (a form of glucose) and vitamins, releasing them when the body needs them. · Digestion: The liver produces bile, which is stored in the gallbladder and released into the small intestine to help digest fats. Bile also helps in the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins. · Blood Regulation: The liver regulates blood sugar levels by storing and releasing glucose. It synthesizes clotting factors, which are essential for blood clotting. It removes old red blood cells and processes bilirubin, a byproduct of red blood cell breakdown. · Other Functions: The liver plays a role in immunity, helping to fight off infections.
