The other day as I was relaxing on my sofa and I heard news of the death of a popular celebrity who died of cardiac arrest.
That got me thinking.
Why Do People Die So Early?
I shall give you the answers shortly. On the other end of the question, I asked myself,
Why Do Some People Live Longer and Sometimes More Than 100 Years of Age?
Personally, I believe I will live up to 90 or 100+ years.
There are two major cause of death of any person.
•Accidents: It could be any type of accident; domestic accident such as electrocution, auto crash, fire out break, stray bullet, etc.
•Diseases: Diseases are the major causes of death in the lives of many people. There are countless diseases that have claimed the lives of millions of people.
Now, the first cause of death we have little to no control over it, however, the second one we have over 95% control over it. Later in this article I will give you reasons and solutions that can help anyone to live up to 80 – 100 years of age.
You may wonder why I never added Old Age or Aging as part of the cause of death. I didn’t, because old age do not cause death. You may argue over this, but I shall give you the reasons further down this article.
In today’s article I shall be discussing the 6 Secrets to living a longer and healthy lifestyle.
A careful study of people who have lived long around the world shows that decisive and conscious actions must be taken to retard the aging process and protect ourselves from the ravenous effects of diseases.
Due to the so many conflicting theories and mass confusion as to what is healthy, I’m here to help set the record straight as to what is healthy. In as much as there is confusion everywhere, there is no confusion when it comes to proven scientific evidence regarding health.
High levels of mental, physical excellence, disease prevention and longevity has been recorded when people follow a proven pattern of healthy living.
It has been proven time and again that the best and most effective method for renewing health is to follow the requirements of proper diets, exercise activities and enough sleep.
Food choice is the single most important factor affecting human health, and it is easily within our control. Good food choices, in combination with other important health factors, give you your best possible chance for a long and rewarding life.
Here Are the 6 Secrets to Living A Long Life
1. Eat Fewer Calories
When we eat more calories than the body needs, it gives the body more work and stresses the system, overtime it ages the body. Especially, when these calories are “empty calories” from processed foods.
For our cells to be nourished and maintain a clean internal environment, we need nutrient rich foods from beans, vegetables, fruits, grains, and seeds.
A study of people who lived for 100 years in Europe reveals that these individuals were consuming less than 2000 calories of nutrient rich plant based foods. And these group of people according to several studies, were slim and lived the longest.
2. Avoid Deficiency With Plant Foods
As healthy as a person may be eating, he should ensure that all his nutritional needs are well taken care of. Do you know that death can occur if a person is lacking any of the micro nutrients in foods such as
Vitamin D or B12?
The reason is lack of Vitamin B12 in the body induces a condition in the body that allows the release of a dangerous toxin called “Homocysteine” which destroys the heart and blood vessels, even while the person eats a healthy diet of fruits and vegetables.
To avoid a deficiency in foods, raw foods from plants should constitute at least 20 – 40% of our daily diets.
Truth is diseases like cancer are caused by toxins, but when we eat adequate amounts of plant foods in its raw state, we are able to supply the body with the needed nutrient to support the body’s internal and natural self-healing and self- repairing mechanisms to purge cancer inducing toxins out of the body through cellular actions and thus prevent the occurrence of this deadly disease.
3. The Rewards Of Regular Exercises
Exercising on a regular basis has been shown to improve mental function, reduce stress levels, anxiety, depression and to improve the quality of sleep patterns.
Each morning after workouts, I feel stronger, and have more energy to face the activities of the day. I feel refreshed after the sweating that comes along side it.
If you plan to live beyond 60 years of age, you need to have your bones as strong as you are, otherwise there is an increased chance you will be affected by chronic arthritis and rheumatism if exercising regularly is not part of your plan.
When we exercise regularly, we condition our muscles and bones to gain strength in the process, and our muscles thicken and become strong even as we age.
Without regular exercise along the line, your muscles and bones deteriorate and become weak. Weakness of muscles and bones invites arthritis. With arthritis, your mobility is hindered as you experience pain when you walk, in some cases, mobility is completed limited.
You should have a new view of exercising. Ideally and from a health stand point, it should be part of your daily routine just like the way you bath and brush your teeth everyday.
If you are the very busy type, find a way to exercise for 10 minutes every morning before taking your shower. Your bones will thank you for that later in life.
4. Avoid Toxins, and That Includes Medication
Toxins are everywhere and we are exposed to it everyday. Toxins are in the air we breath when we use Insecticides to control pests in our homes. It is present in the water we drink when we use treated water. It is present in out plant foods when we use pesticides.
In fact, sometimes, it’s difficult to avoid. We get the exposure of this little poison here and there.
Drugs too are toxic. The doctors will tell you that all chemical drugs are poison if not taken for a particular illness or recommended doze. However, we should understand that we are healthier when we don’t take drugs or medicine of any type.
For instance, Antibiotics are some of the most frequently used and most toxic of all drugs.
More studies are documenting the relationship between antibiotic use and occurrence of cancer in later life. Most recently, a study illustrated a doubling of breast cancer in women who used antibiotics frequently in their life.
When you take drugs, the toxicity level in your body is increased. Unfortunately, most physicians cause more harm than good when they prescribe dangerous drugs, instead of teaching patients how to build and maintain optimum health using natural ways of living.
To control the amount of toxins entering your body, you need to shun all the controllable ways that this can happen. For example, you can plant a small garden in your house, and do not use insecticides on it or artificial fertilizers. Support all forms of organic agriculture and buy organic foods.
In your homes, use non-toxic cleaners to manage insects and pests without contaminating your home.
5. Get Sufficient Sleep
Do you know that adequate sleep re-invigorates the body and mind? Unfortunately, we live in a society that forces us to be controlled by an alarm clock which wake us up before adequate sleep is reached.
When you sleep, the body removes the build-up of waste and toxins from the brain, that is why sleep is one of the cures of headaches and migraine. Sufficient sleep is a must for the normal functioning of the body as it is the time that major bodily repairs take place.
When you “short-circuit” this process by not getting enough sleep, you are killing your body’s ability for an optimum health and limiting repairs of major body cells.
To make matters worse, some have claimed that they can live with lesser sleep when they take foods that contains Caffeine like Coffee and sugary drinks for artificial alertness during the day. When these people start embracing a healthy sleep pattern, they realize they need more sleep as against what they previously thought.
6. A Satisfying Emotional Life
On the emotional side of life, a happy and contented lifestyle can contribute to long life. For instance a positive attitude towards life, a happy marriage, self esteem and respect and ability to add value in the lives of others can all contribute to an emotionally satisfying life.
A conducive and satisfying work environment, activities that are enjoyable are all related to a positive health outcome.
Emotional wellness starts when you appreciate the things around you that life has given. In other words, as you learn about and begin to appreciate and care about people in your circle, you have a reason to be pleased with yourself.
That is all there is to living a long life. Just apply them and you will be on your way to living a longer, healthier and happy life.
Back to the reason I didn’t add old age as one of the causes of death as I promised earlier.
On the religious side of the matter, Humans have a lifespan of 70 – 100 years according to the Bible. That is why no matter how healthy a person lives throughout his life, he can not live up to 200 years before his death.
On the scientific side of the matter, diseases and death are not caused by old age or aging. Diseases which lead to death are caused by negative influences from unhealthy lifestyles that stresses the body over the years, and this leads to an eventual cellular dysfunction and breakdown.
Here is an illustration to understand the above point.
When water drips on a rock over many years, it will eventually cause a wear or bore a little hole on the rock even though the rock is hard enough.
That hole (which is an equivalent of death) is not caused by the time (an equivalent of aging) it took to make that hole, it is caused by successive drops of water hitting the surface of the rock over time. This is because without the water, the hole will not be created on the rock.
Similarly, we create diseases that cause early aging and death through uncontrolled lifestyle habits which this article is set to correct.
Happily, you can actually live up to 100 years, if you are committed to a life of controlled healthy habits free of serious illness from birth to a gentle death at a ripe and happy old age.
