80 ships expected in Lagos ports

Eighty ships are expected to arrive at the Lagos ports in the next three weeks, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.
The shipping position made available on Monday in Lagos by the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), indicates that some of the ships include MV Silver Wave, MT Selenka, MT Leon Poseidon, MV Ruyisong, MV Helene J, MV Vitality and MT SP Boston.
NAN reports that the ships are laden with various cargoes such as rice, bulk salt, fairly-used and new vehicles, bulk sugar, wheat, petrol, diesel, kerosene, aviation fuel and fish.

NAN reports that the ships are laden with various cargoes such as rice, bulk salt, fairly-used and new vehicles, bulk sugar, wheat, petrol, diesel, kerosene, aviation fuel and fish.
According to the document, about five ships will sail in with 81,500 tonnes of rice; two ships contain 44,100 tonnes of bulk salt; while three ships will arrive with 12,000 tonnes of fish.
It also stated that eight other ships would sail in with 211,000 tonnes of petrol; three ships contain diesel weighing about 17, 000 tonnes, while three ships are laden with 32, 000 tonnes of kerosene.
NAN reports that the ships are expected at various terminals in the Lagos ports such as Joseph Dam at Tin can (J/Dam), Apapa Bulk Terminal limited (ABTL) in Apapa, ENL consortium Ltd (ENL) as well as Greenview Development Nigeria Limited (GDNL) in Apapa.
The shipping position also indicates that about 28 ships are already discharging their products at the ports, 20 of which are laden with rice.
It stated that two ships were discharging 48, 873 tonnes of fertiliser; a ship is off-loading 42, 500 tonnes of sugar and another ship discharging 57,766 tonnes of bulk wheat.
Twenty-four tankers are awaiting customs clearance at the Lagos ports. They are carrying 419, 798 tonnes of petroleum products which include petrol, diesel, kerosene, aviation fuel, bulk gas and ethanol.
The tankers are expected to berth at the Atlas Cove Jetty, New Oil Jetty, Petroleum Wharf Apapa and Nido Gas Basin.
