ANLCA Chieftain Condemns Last AGM/NEC Meeting Of Association

A freight forwarder and member of the Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents [ANLCA], Chief Achike Molokwu has condemned the Annual General Meeting (AGM) and National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the association which was held in Lagos penultimate week.
Chief Mokokwu told Shipping Position Daily in Lagos on Monday that although the meeting was attended by stakeholders who made up the association, but pointed out that it was supposed to be attended by the managing directors of companies that are duly- registered with the  association.

Chief Mokokwu told Shipping Position Daily in Lagos on Monday that although the meeting was attended by stakeholders who made up the association, but pointed out that it was supposed to be attended by the managing directors of companies that are duly- registered with the  association.
According to him, the last meeting that was put together by the association was basically a roll call of chapter executives which he described as “a meaningless gathering which cannot be compared to previous conventions.”
He also called for the national executives to invite registered Managing Directors of companies under the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria [CRFFN] who are members of the association in the next AGM.
‘’Technically, annual general meetings are attended by the major stakeholders who make up the association these are, the Managing Directors whose companies are registered with the association. Every end of a given year, you summon all of them for that meeting in which they sit down, look at the constitutions, administrative areas and proffer solutions to any issues that come up”, he observed.
‘’But to my surprise, the last AGM called by the national executive can be described as a call for chapter executives’ meeting because it was attended by all chapter executives and at the end of the day, they said chapter executives and three delegates which to me is not an AGM at all, it has no meaning to me’’.
‘’AGM is not an executive meeting where the president knows it all  ,where he directs them ,where the executives are afraid to bring out  points on how to go about the improvement of the Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents ‘’.
Molokwu however commended the bio metric identity card registration by the association, stressing that other zones have benefitted from the exercise.
He also reiterated that the president of the association, Prince Olayiwola Shittu is a good leader, but advocated for improvement in the next AGM.
‘’My advice is that the next AGM should be well articulated by  the president and his executive by inviting Managing Directors  of companies that are registered under the association officially to brainstorm and find solutions to the problems of the association’’, he stressed.
