The Nigerian Navy (NN) has expressed its readiness to collaborates with Mobil Producing Nigeria (MPN), a subsidiary of Exxon Mobil, on maritime security in Ibeno Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom.
Commodore Ayo Vaughan, the Commandant of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, said this when Junior Course 75 Department of the NN, paid a visit to Qua Iboe Terminal (QIT) in the local government.
He said the purpose of the visit was to afford the students the opportunity to appreciate NN’s collaboration with other maritime-related agencies like Mobil.

Vaughan said they were in the company to see what the NNPC/MPN joint venture was doing and also to explore opportunities of collaboration for improved maritime security.
He expressed the hope that the tour would help the students to get more information about NNPC/ MPN joint venture.
“It is expected that after visiting the joint venture’s operations, NN will be better informed and be able to make a report that will focus on the improved collaboration for more effective maritime security,’’ he said.
In his remarks, Mr Akaninyene Esiere, the Manager, Public and Government Affairs, Qua Iboe Terminal, Eket, said the joint venture had been undertaking infrastructural development in every sector.
Esiere said such ventures include building, renovation of schools and hospitals with active participation of community contractors.
