True to its pre-event rating, it is already generating anxiety among aspirants who are apprehensive of the novel idea.
However, the chairman, ASECO, Alhaji Abdualzeez Mukaila Babatunde allayed their fears yesterday, saying the debate is meant to bring the electorates in contact with the aspirants and to also ensure that the candidates are abreast of issues about our association and the industry that they operate in.”
“At the end of the day, we hope that the idea becomes an integral part of our association’s electoral process”, he stated even as he expressed appreciation to the board of trustees of the association and the national executive committee for seeing the reason for the debate.
The debate, which is solely for aspiring chairmen and secretaries, will feature about 30 candidates, with Apapa and Tin Can Port chapters leading the pack with five and four chairmanship aspirants respectively.
The debate which will be hosted be the publisher of Shipping Position Daily; Mr Sesan Onileimo will come up at the expansive ICAN Centre in Amuwo Odofin, Lagos. It will also be attended by the media.
