The Alumni Association of the Maritime Academy of Nigeria (AMANO) held a transformative one-day career fair at the Maritime Academy of Nigeria’s campus. Spearheaded by AMANO’s executives under the leadership of its president, Emmanuel Maiguwa, the event provided graduating cadets with valuable insights and career opportunities in the maritime industry.
The highlight of the event was a series of motivational sessions by industry experts, including Captain Garba Gajere, Engr. Ini-obong Ebong, Anne Dung, Oamien Ailemen, and Inoma Frances. Sharing their experiences and career trajectories, the speakers encouraged the cadets to embrace their profession with pride and pursue their maritime careers with resilience, dedication, and a commitment to continuous learning in the ever-evolving industry.
To complement these inspiring sessions, AMANO organized practical initiatives to bridge the gap between training and employment. An “on-the-spot” interview session offered immediate job opportunities for select cadets, while a CV clinic equipped participants with the skills needed to craft compelling resumes and prepare effectively for the job market.
Members of AMANO’s Akwa Ibom Chapter were also actively involved, contributing their expertise and enriching the event with insights that further emphasized the importance of community and mentorship in professional development.
The career fair served as a platform for graduating cadets to network with maritime leaders, gain industry-relevant knowledge, and position themselves for successful careers.
“This event reflects AMANO’s commitment to ensuring that cadets transition seamlessly from the classroom to the industry,” said Oamien Ailemen, AMANO’s spokesman.
He further said the initiative underscores AMANO’s dedication to empowering the next generation of maritime professionals, fostering growth, and ensuring the continued relevance of the Maritime Academy of Nigeria in producing world-class seafarers.
