• Elections Tentatively Fixed For March
Barely three weeks after Prince Olayiwola Shittu resigned as the chairman of the Association Electoral Committee (ASECO) of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), a new committee has been constituted to conduct the remaining elections.
The new committee is headed by a frontline member of the association, Alhaji Abdulazeez Babatunde Mukhaila who will lead five other members of the association in the new ASECO.
Other members of the new ASECO are: Mr Nwagbaraocha Gideon who will serve as the Secretary, Mr Yusuf Ajoge, Dr. Ifeanyi Asogwa, Alhaji Dele Azeez and Chief Patrick Agbator.
Confirming the development, the new chairman disclosed that his committee has already commenced work and that very soon it will come into public domain. He however assured that the new ASECO will build on the credibility that has the Shittu-led ASECO has built.
“I am happy that we inherited a credible ASECO, all we have to do is to ensure that we maintain the standard and I am happy with the caliber of people that are on the committee with me”, he stated.
Alhaji Mukhaila disclosed that elections into Abuja chapter will come up before any thing can be done, but refuse to be specific about the date. Abuja is the only chapter into which elections have not been conducted.
Aspirants are already warming up for the national executive council of the association and elections are expected to come up soon. But unlike in previous elections that produced past national executives, the impending national elections are expected to be on collegiate basis; where only elected chapter executives will vote to elect national executives.
