Months after its failed attempts to conduct a successful elections into chapters under its western zone, the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) has been advised to make haste in deciding what next to do about the chapters and rescheduling the elections.

This advice was given by the National President of the Oodua Maritime Forum, Chef Segun Oyenıran when he spoke with Shipping Position Daily correspondent yesterday at his office in Lagos.

Oyenıran appealed to the National President of ANLCA, Prince Olayiwola Shittu and members of the association’s Board of Trustees (BOT) to take a quick look at the report of the elections panel that was set up to look into the various complaints that emanated from the last elections, and to let members  know on time, which way forward.

The association had appointed caretaker committees to manage the affairs of the chapters where elections could not hold while contestants still wait to know their fate.

Chief Oyenıran cautioned that; "They should do whatever they want to do, let them decide at the right time so that people can know their fate"

"I am hearing a lot of things concerning the elections, but I will only advise the NECOM and the BoT that they should hasten and be fast in taking their decisions, because justice delayed is justice denied", he stressed.

"I am praying for the president and the Board of Trustees that God should give them divine wisdom to settle that case" he said.

While reacting to the posıbılıty of tribalism splitting ANLCA as recently cautioned by the western zone coordinator; Prince Ozo Chukwura, the Oodua president pointed out that ethnicity cannot be removed from ANLCA.

According to him, "there is no way you can remove ethnicity from any organısatıon"

"There is nothing anybody can do about it, even in the Nigerian government where PDP is the ruling party, you will still hear about zoning to west, north and so on, can we now say they don’t know what they are doing".

Meanwhile, members of ANLCA who spoke with Shipping Position Daily lamented that the national executive is slow in taking decision over the panel report and this is not healthy for the association.

One of the aggrieved parties in the election at Seme border chapter; Chief Mıkky Okunola in a telephone chat with our correspondent yesterday said that his camp has dissociated themselves from Mr Patrıck Ozobıalu who allegedly controversially won the election as chairman of the chapter.

Okunola warned that knowledge must be applied in adopting the decision of the election panel or else ANLCA will split.

"We are now managing ourselves by ourselves, we dıssıocıated from him and we decided not to work with him, after the report we will decide on what next to do" Okolona said.
