The National President of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) Prince Olayiwola Shittu has called on the Nigerian Customs Service and other security agents to carry out more raids at the nation's ports in order to get rid of unwanted elements who according to him, are denting the image of genuine freight forwarders.
Shittu also said that the emergence of the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) has not really reduced the influx of people into the ports.

Shittu also said that the emergence of the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) has not really reduced the influx of people into the ports.
He made the statement yesterday at the ANLCA secretariat in Lagos while inaugurating caretaker committees to pilot the affairs of the chapters where elections could not hold during the recent chapter elections. The caretaker committees will be in charge for three months.
Speaking for the first time since the raid which led to the arrest of more than 100 persons at Tin Can port, the ANLCA, president maintained that: "We were not bothered when the raid took place, majority of our members who showed their ID cards were allowed to go, but those who have different names on their documents were invited over"
"We have called upon Customs and the security agencies to do more of those raids to help us rid the ports of those who are spoiling our name" he said.
He cautioned ANLCA members against letting out their licenses to be used in their absence, even as he pleaded with the Nigeria Customs Service to issue personal passwords to licensed agents.
The ANLCA boss inaugurated caretaker committees into chapters where elections were not held, these are; Tin Can Island chapter, KLT, Ijora, Idiroko and Ikorodu chapters.
Shittu explained that the move is in order to allow the petition panel addressing the fallouts of the election concludes its reports. According to him, this is in line with the provisions of the association’s constitution.
"Earlier we thought that the panel that we have set up to hear petitions from aggrieved individuals will round up in time, we gave them one week, but we discovered that they had almost 72 petitions, there were more petitions from supporters than from the candidates, so in order to give them room to examine all and come out with acceptable report, we gave them enough time", he explained.
Also speaking at the inauguration, Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT( of ANLCA, Chief Henry Njoku threatened that the association will descend on any chapter chairman who has refused to hand over at the chapters where elections have been concluded.
He also reminded the new caretaker committees of the new responsibilities given to them, threatening that, "if any of you don’t change things, we will remove such a person".
The care taker committee for the Tincan chapter is headed by Chief Oye Ariyo, others members are; Oladele Akanni and Segun Alabi. KLT chapter has Chukwunonso Chukwudima as chairman while other members are; Goddy Sewa, Elder Johnny Oke. Ijora chapter has Anslem Chucks Njemanze as chairman and Segun Adefioye as Secretary.
Idiroko chapter is headed by Elder Abel T.A and Dauda Olatubji Omideyi as secretary. Ikorodu chapter has Tomi Aloba as chairman while other executives include Jimoh Lawal and Barnabas Ikpe.
