The National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders [NAGAFF] has advised its members to endeavour to acquire more knowledge in relevant maritime institutions in the country.
President of the association, Mr Eugene Nweke, in a chat with Shipping Position Daily in Lagos, stated  that NAGAFF is already in  collaboration with some maritime institutions for the training  of its members.
Nweke said that the association has also been in the forefront of encouraging members to acquire more education, stressing that no knowledge is lost.
According to him, members of the association need more enlightenment for future endeavour as the industry encompasses both practical and theoretical knowledge.
‘’We have been collaborating with some maritime training institutes in area of capacity building and in line with our constitutional duties, we try as much as possible to create a leeway for members  to acquire skills because no knowledge is a waste.”
Consequently, he advised that institutions like, the  Nigeria Institute of Shipping[NIS],Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport[CILT],Port and Terminal Management Academy of Nigeria[POTEMAN],Freight Forwarders Academy of Nigeria[FFAN],and other maritime Institutions should be embraced by members of the association’’.
According to him, some freight forwarders do not have the time to go back to school due to the nature of their jobs, but the association always reminds them about the various skill acquisition opportunities that are available in the maritime industry.
‘’At all times,  we remind our members that it cannot get better as a professional when you do not go into the four wall of the classroom to receive lectures to know what is obtainable in the maritime industry’’
The president also noted that the freight forwarding business is quite interesting and requires high standard on the part of the practitioners to be able to achieve efficient service delivery.
