Capital Oil Tanker Drivers Wants AMCON To Sell Products

About one month after operations were shut down at Capital Oil and Gas Limited following a court order of Justice A.Abdu-Kafarati of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja that the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) takes over the possession of all its properties and assets, petroleum tanker drivers working at the depot have called for the running of the depot facility by AMCON.
The drivers lamented that since the closure of the tank farm, businesses have remained at a standstill and that it has been difficult for them to feed their families.

The drivers lamented that since the closure of the tank farm, businesses have remained at a standstill and that it has been difficult for them to feed their families.
They therefore cried out that instead of the depot remaining closed by AMCON, the corporation should be allowed to start running the tank farm so that drivers can remain employed.
Some of the driver confirmed to Shipping Position Daily that since the closure of the biggest depot in Lagos, the tanks have started leaking and that the product which was stored there by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) is wasting away, according to them, this post a great environmental risk.
Our correspondent who visited the company yesterday was informed that officials of AMCON were on their way to the depot for undisclosed reasons, but the tanker drivers at the tank farm assured that they will make their demands known to the officials.
Meanwhile, AMCON had said in an advertorial in a daily publication yesterday that it will continue to hold on to Capital Oil properties pending the decision of the Appeal Court.
In a telephone chat with our correspondent yesterday, the depot manager of the oil company; Mr. Goffrey Okorie confirmed that the problems of the company have not been resolved yet.
