Frontline master mariner, Captain Abiodun Omoteso has harped on the need for Nigeria seafarers to get world- class training from reliable maritime training institutions in the country.
Captain Omoteso who disclosed this yesterday at the flag –off on a five –day training programme put together by Landfall Transport and Towage Nigeria Limited in Lagos ,said that there is the need for Nigeria seafarers to have the adequate prerequisite in maritime training which covers certification and standards.

Captain Omoteso who disclosed this yesterday at the flag –off on a five –day training programme put together by Landfall Transport and Towage Nigeria Limited in Lagos ,said that there is the need for Nigeria seafarers to have the adequate prerequisite in maritime training which covers certification and standards.
He told Shipping Position Daily that for maritime training to be effective and to live up the standard there is the need for a conducive environment where maritime activities are highly concentrated.
The world –acclaimed maritime trainer urged the Federal government to look inward in creating an enabling environment for the Nigeria seafarers, adding that there is a lot to be done to make the lives of seafarers better.
He also reiterated that, to better the lot of Nigeria seafarers, the Federal government should embrace private institutions in the training of seafarers in the country.
According to him, Landfall provides the platform of the training which he described as being of international standard for the purpose of training students about the technical know – how of shipping.
